  Abstract

  The MORPHEUS project delivers a unified, multi‑scale and multi‑temporal framework for assessing sediment connectivity (SC) by merging structural (topography‑based) and functional (temporal change) analyses using high‑resolution LiDAR, SfM, and DEM‑of‑Difference techniques. It targets catchments ranging from < 15 km² to > 200 km², evaluating natural large‑infrequent disturbances (e.g., VAIA storm) and anthropogenic modifications such as roads, terraces, and dams, while exploring feedbacks between structural and functional connectivity for hazard prediction. The work is organized into six work packages that cover data collection, pre-processing and fusion, regional and local SC assessment, disturbance impact studies, and data curation and dissemination through WebGIS, guidelines, and open‑source tools. Collaboration spans CNR‑IRPI (Padova/Torino), Politecnico di Torino, and Università di Padova, with field surveys validating model outputs. The overall aim is to furnish actionable, reproducible tools that enhance landscape resilience under escalating extreme‑event pressures.
